The 2021 Top 30 Franchise Executives report showcases exceptional individual performance in Australia’s franchising industry. It is about individuals making a tangible difference to franchisees. It’s about passion. It’s about leadership. It’s about innovation. 

All eligible nominees for the 2021 Top 30 Franchise Executives have been invited to submit an application, which will be reviewed by our panel of judges.

Anthony Cannell

As managing director of Franchise Relationships Institute Anthony leads the business strategy and global expansion program. He is a dynamic entrepreneur with over 30 years franchising experience in the travel, coaching and hospitality industries. 

Anthony has consulted with businesses across a wide range of industries and held senior roles in both large established international brands as well as emerging entrepreneurial businesses, driving change and extraordinary business results.

Bruce McFarlane

Bruce McFarlane

Bruce is CEO of the BlueRock Group, a multi-disciplinary entrepreneurial advisory firm. ​It is a certified B Corporation, and has been featured in BRW’s ‘Fast 100’ two years in a row.  

Bruce is also MD of BlueRock Law and leader of the firm’s M&A team and Franchising, Retail & Distribution team. He has over 20 years experience advising franchisors and other businesses on commercial issues.

Supporting the franchise sector is really important to Bruce and he has been an elected member of the Victorian State Chapter Committee of the Franchise Council of Australia for over 10 years.

Bruce is a director of investment company Everything is Awesome Limited, a director of ORDER esports Limited and BDC Partners, a retail and franchising advisor business.

Denis McFadden

Denis McFadden

In 1982 Denis McFadden had to wait six months to vacate a lease he no longer needed as he had already moved his existing salon to new premises. To keep things simple, he ran a promotion offering a ‘no appointment $6 Style Cut’ for all Clients. The response was outstanding, and the idea of Just Cuts was born.

The first Just Cuts opened in Engadine, NSW in 1990 and remains a successful Just Cuts business. Today, 30 years and 220+ salons across AU, NZ and the UK later Denis continues to innovate and mentor the franchise community. 

He is a much loved and respected member of Australian franchising and an FCA Hall of Famer.

Genevieve Saleh

Genevieve Saleh

Genevieve is an experienced franchisee having spent more than four years operating her 7-Eleven store at Carrara South with husband Rob. 

She has been recognised in the 7-Eleven network through not only the outstanding offer she provides to her customers and the contribution she makes to the network, but also her commitment to her local community. 

Prior to becoming a franchisee, Genevieve worked in the banking industry and also in providing support to people living with a disability.

Josh Cairns

Josh Cairns

Josh is the founder and CEO of franchisor software business Op Central, which helps franchisors to reduce their operational overhead whilst supporting their franchisees with the resources they need.

Op Central is built on the latest technology, offering an LMS, smart operations manuals, site auditing, staff engagement, performance analytics and it's integrated with Deputy, Xero, MYOB, G-Suite, Office-365, Active Directory, HubSpot and more.

Josh's suite of products are trusted by 9,400 businesses in 37 countries, including many of the most decorated, award winning franchise and multisite brands in Australia.

Karen Bozic

Karen is the Group CEO of craveable brands., home to nearly 600 restaurants under three iconic Australian chicken brands: Red Rooster, Oporto and Chicken Treat. 

Karen has worked in some of Australia’s most recognised retail brands: Woolworths, BIG W, Caltex and Rebel Sport, having been the CFO, COO, GM of Strategy, GM of Transformation and Replenishment in these public, private and private equity organisations. 

Karen is passionate about retail, people and diversity.

Sarah Stowe

Sarah Stowe

As editor Sarah has headed up the Inside Franchise Business portfolio for more than 13 years, taking a hands-on role in the business. She has interviewed top level executives, industry advisors and franchisees for both the professional executive audience and the franchise buying readership.

Sarah introduced the inaugural Top 30 Franchise Executives report in 2019.

Sarah has more than 30 years experience as a journalist, working in B2B in both the UK and Australia.

Warren D'cruz

Warren D'cruz

After working as a mechanic for 20 years Warren purchased his first Auto Masters franchise. Over the last 14 years he has accumulated a further four stores in Adelaide and Perth.

In 2019 Warren won the National FCA Multi Unit Franchisee of the year award and he has also won multiple awards in the Auto Masters Group.

Warren takes an active role in supporting and coaching franchisees in the group, often

mentoring new franchisees.

In 2015, he undertook the MACA Perkins Cancer 200km fundraising bike ride. He has continued to complete the ride annually, encouraging a team of fellow franchisees to join the ride and raise just under $200,000.

Warren continues to challenge himself in business and believes in setting goals for himself and achieving them.
