WHO CAN BE ON THE LIST?
To qualify, candidates must be a franchise professional currently working in a franchise operating in Australia.
Nominations are open to roles that directly impact the franchisees within a franchise system i.e. CEO, marketing manager, trainer, operations manager, field manager, business development manager, franchise development manager.
Candidates must have been working within the industry for at least two years. Franchisees and service providers are not eligible.

There are six elements that each nominee will be judged on.
Candidates must demonstrate excellence in the following areas:
The candidate has contributed to developing or abiding by best practice principles that have a direct impact on franchisee performance.
The candidate has led innovation in the business by using new knowledge to introduce product, process, marketing or organisational change.
The candidate has made a positive impact on the franchising community by championing a cause like sustainability, diversity or mental health.
The candidate has promoted positive franchising through articles, presentations, public appearances, providing mentorship.
The candidate has demonstrated leadership in the business.
The candidate has invested in personal or professional development.
THE JUDGING PANEL
Chief Executive Officer, Franchise Council of Australia
Mary was appointed as CEO of the Franchise Council of Australia in April 2018 and was named AFR Boss Magazine’s Young
Executive of the Year for 2018. Previously she was CEO of Committee for Gippsland Inc for seven years.
Her career includes board experience, and a Washington internship with a US Senator.
Mary left school at 15 to work in her parent’s small business and brings to her FCA role a real life understanding of, and affinity with, small businesses.
Co-Founder, Bakers Delight
Lesley co-founded the Baker’s Delight business with her husband Roger in 1980 and the bakery began franchising in 1988. The couple built the business into a 700+ store-strong network across Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US before stepping back from their CEO roles in 2017.
Lesley developed an ongoing partnership between Bakers Delight and Breast Cancer Network Australia and has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community and support of charitable organisations.
Founder, Franchise Relationships Institute
Greg is the founder of Franchise Relationships Institute, and is a globally recognised thought leader on the psychology of franchising. A registered psychologist for 35 years Greg regularly delivers keynote addresses at franchise conferences around the world.
Greg is the author of Profitable Partnerships and has created franchising models which have helped shape the way franchising is conducted.
His career in franchising started at Brumby’s Bakeries: he has been a multi-unit franchisee, national marketing executive, and franchise operations manager.
Greg has been recognised in Australia and the US for his contribution to franchising.
Chairman, DC Strategy
Rod is chairman at DC Strategy, a prominent strategy, franchising and international consulting group.
Rod is recognised worldwide as a leading franchise consultant with more than 40 years in franchising, licensing and business development across Australia, Europe, China, South East Asia, India and the US.
He is chairman and global CEO of Cartridge World, chairman of Poolwerx (Australian Franchisor of the Year 2016) and is on the board of several other national and international companies.
He was inducted into the Franchise Council of Australia’s Hall of Fame in 2017.
International Specialist Consultant, InXpress
Bev has been an InXpress franchisee for four years. In 2017 she was the winner of the FCA’s Single Unit Franchisee of the Year (two staff or less) award and has been a finalist for the National Franchise Woman of the Year.
Bev is an advocate for women succeeding in business; she formed and leads Women InXpress (WIX) and is a committee member on the FCA NSW Women in Franchising Committee.
She has held a lead position on the InXpress Franchise Advisory Council.
Franchisee, Boost Juice
Anthony has been a Boost Juice franchisee for 15 years in partnership with Daniel Mesiti. The pair operates five Boost Juice stores in Sydney, and one Tommy Guns Barbershop outlet, and have been awarded more than 25 trophies for their franchise performance, including Multi-Unit Franchisee of the Year 2016 in the Franchise Council of Australia’s Excellence in Franchising Awards.
Chief Executive Officer, Snap Franchising
Peter joined Snap Franchising Ltd in early 2017 and has developed a close partnership with franchisees, business partners and the wider industry to set a solid foundation for strategic growth.
He is a leadership expert with more than 30 years’ experience in retail operations, store development, property and strategic partnerships and business transformation.
Peter’s senior management roles include group general manager at The Good Guys. He is a past director of the Large Format Retail Association and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
CEO - FRANdata, REGISTRAR - The Australian Franchise Registry
Darryn McAuliffe is a CPA and brings a banking background to his role as CEO of FRANdata and the Registrar of the Australian Franchise Registry. In the four years before joining FRANdata Darryn ran NAB’s franchising strategy.
Editor, Inside Franchise Business
Sarah has been involved in franchising for more than 11 years as editor of the leading franchising magazine and website, Inside Franchise Business.
She has been a moderator and a panellist at the FCA’s National Franchise Convention and has facilitated franchisee panel sessions at the franchising expos.
An experienced journalist, Sarah has also worked in the B2B fields of small business in franchising, beauty and fashion.
